Staff and carers at one of our Carer Conversations
Beyond feedback, lies the power of a conversation.
A good conversation creates stronger relationships and can make a difference in helping someone feel supported.
Carers Queensland’s Carer Program hosts regular Regional Carer Conversations across Queensland.
Members of our Board of Directors, our Chief Executive Officer, Debra Cottrell and local staff join the conversation to talk about important issues that have an impact on the lives of carers.
Conversations are conducted in an idea-sharing format, where carers share their insights into what really matters to them, while we listen and learn from their lived experience.
During the meeting, we discuss different topics, the needs in their communities and find new ways to create collaboration.
Carer Conversations are a great opportunity for all carers to let their voices be heard, raise local issues, service gaps and input into policy submissions. They bring in new questions and insights that help set priorities or action plans for us to provide better support to caring families.
It also provides a safe space for carers to build relationships with likeminded people, share their perspective, listen to others.
Together, we explore the challenges and opportunities for them to access the support they really need and develop a vision that will lead us to better solutions.
Since November 2020, we have hosted Carer Conversations in Brisbane, Ipswich and West Moreton, Gold Coast, Roma, Rockhampton, Townsville and Sunshine Coast regions.
Across the different regions, we’ve had some productive conversations about what really matters to carers in their caring roles. Every conversation is different, but it’s always great to see carers connecting with each other, sharing their stories and also having some well-deserved me time.
Join the conversation. If you are interested in joining our Carer Conversations, we welcome your participation.
