NAIDOC Week 2018

As pillars of our society, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have played – and continue to play – active and significant roles at the community, local, state and national levels.

Under the theme ‘Because of her, we can’ Carers Queensland celebrated NAIDOC Week 2018 with events being held over the week-long celebration in every regional office.

NAIDOC Week is a great opportunity to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This year’s theme was dedicated to all of the Indigenous women who have made a difference and inspired others.

Events throughout the regions focused on acknowledging, celebrating and honouring the exceptional contribution of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders women who care for a family member or friend.

Every day, these women work quietly in their homes to improve the lives of the people they care for while contributing to our community, our families, our history and our nation.
