New services for carers

The Australian Government is rolling out new services to help carers get the support they need.

The Integrated Carer Support Service model was developed to provide carers with a support system that is easy to navigate.

From July 2019, carer will be able to access new services including phone counselling, peer support, self-guided coaching and practical skills courses.

These new services have been designed based on evidence that shows the best way to help carers is to help them early in their caring role, increase their skills and reduce the strain of caring.

The Department of Social Services has also published a new Information Sheet for carers.
