Assist Clients with Medication

Gain nationally accredited skills in order to safely administer medication to clients in a range of health care settings.

Whether you want to upskill for your personal situation or gain recognised training for employment opportunities, this course will provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely and effectively assist clients with medication.

Students will learn how to prepare for and provide medication assistance, complete medication documentation and support clients to self-administer medication.

This course is offered in-person in Brisbane, with an online component to be completed prior to commencement. Through your learning journey with Carers Queensland, you will be supported by an experienced and friendly team every step of the way to help you succeed in your studies and your future practice.

Following your study, you will receive a certificate of completion which can be used in your resume.

Additional classes are available with a minimum of five students. Please submit an enquiry for more information.

Computer and internet access to complete the online learning component. Basic literacy and numeracy required to complete the assessment/online element. Completing this assessment requires developing a sound understanding of medical terminology, drug measurements and medication charts. This will be developed throughout the theory component which must be completed prior to the class based practical component.

  • Course delivered face-to-face in Lutwyche (Level 1, Market Central Lutwyche Shopping Centre. Parking and public transport available).
  • There is an online component to be completed prior to the face-to-face session.
  • 1 x face-to-face class.
  • Online theory and assessment component to be completed prior to face-to-face class. This component will take approximately 6 hours (you are not required to do this all in one sitting, if you prefer you can break this up over a few days to make it more manageable to complete).
  • The course will be facilitated by a Registered Nurse, providing you with professional practical guidance.
  • Upon completion of this course you will receive competency in HLTHPS006 – Assist clients with medication.
