Funding Options for Students

Carers Queensland has been chosen by the Queensland Department of Employment, Small Business and Training as a pre-qualified supplier of subsidised training and assessment services.

The Queensland Government aims to provide training participants RTO’s able to deliver high-quality, industry-standard training that supports employment opportunities.

OVERVIEW

The Certificate 3 Guarantee supports eligible individuals to complete their first post-school certificate III qualification and increase their skills to move into employment, re-enter the workforce or advance their career.

It also supports school students to access training and Queensland’s Year 12 graduates to transition to employment by providing fee-free training in high priority qualifications.

FUNDING ELIGIBILITY CHECKLIST

To determine if you are eligible for Certificate 3 Guarantee funding, look at our eligibility checklist below:

  • You are a Queensland resident.
  • You are aged 15 years or over.
  • You are no longer at school (except for VET in Schools students).
  • You are Australian or New Zealand citizen OR Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants) OR temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency.
  • Do not hold, or not be enrolled in a certificate III level or higher qualification (not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training)

STUDENT FEE CONTRIBUTION 

Given the benefits that accrue to individuals from training, students undertaking Certificate III training and non-concessional students undertaking lower-level training, will be required to contribute to the costs of their training through a co-contribution fee.  The fee may be paid on behalf of the student by the employer or a third party but cannot be paid or waived by the Registered Training Provider.

ABOUT CERTIFICATE 3 GUARANTEE

  • The Certificate 3 Guarantee is funded by the Queensland Government.
  • This program was designed for individuals who have not obtained a qualification equivalent to or higher than a certificate III – Therefore you can only participate in the program once.

OVERVIEW

The Higher-Level Skills program provides eligible individuals with access to a subsidised training place in selected certificate IV level or above qualifications, and priority skill sets.

The aim is to assist individuals to gain the higher-level skills required to secure employment or career advancement in priority industries or to transition to university to continue their studies. Employers may also be able to access training to address workforce development needs.

  • be a Queensland resident.
  • be aged 15 years or over, and no longer at school.
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian
  • entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency.
  • not hold, or be enrolled in, a certificate IV level or higher qualification (not including qualifications completed at school and foundations skills training).

  • This program was designed for individuals that are an Existing Worker in the Community Services and Health industry, which includes parents and unpaid carers of NDIS participants.
