Debra Cottrell

Chief Executive Officer

Debra has the delegated responsibility for all of the day-to-day operations of Carers Queensland.

Debra worked in leadership roles in the Victorian state government and the health and community service sectors in NSW & Victoria, for over 30 years, before relocating to commence as the CEO of Carers Queensland in September 2009.

Debra believes that the only way we can truly claim that Australia is the lucky country, is by opening up our places and spaces to people of all abilities, because everyone has the right to social inclusion and to be able to live the best life they can.

Jocelyn Wills

General Manager – National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Local Area Coordination (LAC) Partner in the Community Program

Jocelyn joined Carers Queensland in 2011 as the State Coordinator for the Better Start for Children with Disability Program and became the General Manager responsible for the LAC program on the 1st of January 2017.

Prior to her time at Carers Queensland she worked for Red Cross, Brisbane City Council and Disability Employment organisations.

Jocelyn is passionate about leadership, developing a positive organisational culture for staff and providing a high-quality service to people with disability, their families and the community.

Simone Schofield

General Manager – Strategy & Growth

Simone joined Carers Queensland in May 2021 with over 20 years’ experience in professional services and management consulting. Most recently she has worked with, and in, the not for profit and community services sector – working with clients in government, aged care and disability.

As a true generalist, she brings a diverse range of business, consulting and strategic management skills and expertise to Carers Queensland leveraging strengths in strategy, program management, governance, business transformation and human capital to build capability and growth.

Simone is values driven, socially minded and passionate about delivering strategically aligned initiatives and projects that drive organizational and service delivery excellence, positive organisational culture & wellbeing, and bring meaningful impact to carers, people with disability, their families and the communities we serve. She has worked nationally and internationally and brings a diverse and global perspective.

In addition to her work at Carers Queensland, she is also a carer and regular volunteer.

Wayne Herrmann

General Manager – Corporate Services

Wayne joined Carers Queensland in 2014, working to create processes to improve efficiency, productivity, and safety of the people and assets at Carers Queensland. He focuses on providing solutions and results that are aligned with the goals of the organisation.

Wayne has over 15 years experience in similar roles in the not-for-profit sector, which enabled him to bring a unique blend of business acumen, financial management skills and insightful thinking.

In his role, Wayne provides leadership and oversees the organisation’s financial activities and operations, from a short-term approach to long-term forecasting.

Sarah Bone

Manager – Carer Program

Sarah joined Carers Queensland as an Area Manager in August 2018, after relocating from Darwin.

She became the Manager for the Carer program in June 2020.

Graduated from Paisley University with a Bachelor of Arts Business in 2003, Sarah has worked in the community sector for over 15 years.

She has over 10 years’ experience managing teams across a number of community programs including: Homelessness, Domestic Violence, AOD, Mental Health & Disability in the United Kingdom and Australia.

Sarah is driven by her passion to make a difference, focusing on helping individuals to live better lives, whilst promoting inclusive communities and opportunities for all.

Rae Headey

Manager – Human Resources

As the Manager for Human Resources, Rae is responsible for overall leadership of the HR function including strategic planning execution, HR advisory services, labour law interpretation, human resource systems and training and development.

A skilled human resources professional bringing over 20 years experience in commercial and not for profit industries, Rae has post graduate qualifications in Professional Management and Human Resources.

Prior experience in various small to large Not for Profits such as Leukaemia Foundation and Uniting Care QLD, Retirement and Property, Health, WorkCover and private business assist her business acumen and understanding how our people are one of the most important parts of our business.
