To be eligible for Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing), you must fulfil the following requirements:

  • aged 15 years or older at time of enrolment
  • be self-motivated to learn on their own
  • have basic computer skills
  • have reliable internet connection
  • have a working computer or laptop
  • deal with physical demands of manual tasks (e.g., bending, squatting, repetitive movements)

Our Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) course is perfect for those who are seeking flexible learning. This is a 14-month blended-learning qualification, with self-paced online learning and face-to-face training.

This means that alongside your self-paced online learning, you will be assigned a trainer who will assist and navigate you along your learning journey.

You will need to attend 2 consecutive days of in-person sessions for each of the Block Workshops at our Lutwyche training room in Brisbane, Queensland.

Student Support

As you complete your aged care course online with us, you are encouraged to participate in one weekly online group session with your assigned trainer. We also provide 1:1 tutorials if you need further assistance.

As part of your Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) course, you will gain valuable experience in real workplaces. We will assist you with finding a host employer/organisation to complete your Certificate III in aged care work placement. Our established partnerships with local community service organisations mean you will learn the skills you need while also getting to know potential future employers.

Students must complete 120 hours of direct support work in at least one aged care, home, community, disability, or community services organisation.

In addition, prior to commencing placement, you must have:

  • Working with children check (Blue Card)
  • NDIS Worker Screening check (Yellow Card)
  • National Police Check Clearance Certificate
  • First Aid qualification
  • Current flu vaccination
  • COVID19 vaccination

Certificate 3 Guarantee

The Certificate 3 Guarantee program is a key initiative under the Queensland Government’s Annual Vet Investment Plan. The Certificate 3 Guarantee provides a government subsidy to support eligible individuals in completing their first post-school Certificate III level qualification. It supports Queensland’s Year 12 graduates transitioning to employment by providing fee-free training in high-priority qualifications. Carers Queensland is approved to provide government-funded aged care courses as we are a Skills Assure supplier.

To be eligible for Certificate 3 Guarantee funding you must:

  • be a Queensland resident
  • be aged 15 years or above, and no longer at school.
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency
  • not hold, or be enrolled in, a certificate III level or higher qualification (not including qualifications completed at school and foundations skills training).

Training is subsidised by the Queensland government and is paid to the RTO providing the training. There is a necessary co-contribution fee from the student for enrolment and training.
