The Accredited Unit is accessible both to the public and to those employed in healthcare and community services.

This course empowers you with the foundational skills essential for safely assisting clients with medication. Whether you aim at advancing your personal portfolio or gaining recognised employment-oriented training, this well-structured program prepares you for medication assistance in various healthcare industries, mainly community services.

After successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Ensure you have the knowledge to proceed to assist a client with their medication
  • Assist and support the administration of a wide range of medications
  • Understanding medication classification
  • Completion of the documentation associated with medication administration
  • Implement hygiene and duty of care procedures

  • Be self-motivated to learn on their own
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Have a reliable internet connection
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
  • Sound understanding of medical terminology, drug measurements and medication charts.

This course is a blend of online and face-to-face training. Online learning is delivered via our online student portal, and our face-to-face learning is delivered at our office in Lutwyche (Brisbane, QLD).

Students will be required to attend and complete their practical component (3 hours) at our office; timeslots vary between 8.15 am – 5.00 pm.

More information will be provided during the enrolment process.

  • Online theory and assessment components are to be completed prior to a face-to-face class. This component will take approximately 6-10 hours to complete.
  • 3 hours of face-to-face practical training and assessment at our Lutwyche office (Market Central Lutwyche Shopping Centre).
  • A Registered Nurse will co-facilitate the course, providing you with professional practical guidance.
  • Upon successful completion of this unit, you will be awarded a statement of attainment for HLTHPS006 – Assist clients with medication.
