Carers Queensland is approved by the Department of Youth Justice, Employment, Small Business and Training to deliver training and assessment services in a number of subsidised courses through the Certificate 3 Guarantee program.

Certificate 3 Guarantee Program Overview

The Certificate 3 Guarantee program is designed to support eligible individuals in completing their first post-school Certificate III qualification. This program empowers participants to increase their skills and pursue employment opportunities, re-enter the workforce, or advance their careers.

The program offers students access to training and aids in the transition to employment. Through Certificate III funding, participants can benefit from fee-free training in high-priority qualifications.

Certificate III Funding Eligibility Checklist

To determine if you are eligible for Certificate 3 Guarantee program funding, look at our eligibility checklist below:

  • you are a Queensland resident.
  • you are aged 15 years or over.
  • you are no longer at school (except for VET Schools students).
  • you are an Australian or New Zealand citizen OR Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants) OR temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency.
  • do not hold or not be enrolled in a Certificate III level or higher qualification (not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training)

Student Fee Contribution

We understand the importance of training and its positive impact on individuals. As part of the Certificate 3 Guarantee program, students must pay a co-contribution fee for their training expenses. Participants undertaking Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing), Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability), and non-concessional students engaged in lower-level training must contribute to their Certificate III funding. The co-contribution fee cannot be waived or paid by the Registered Training Provider. But a student can engage their employer or a third party to pay this fee.

  • The Queensland Government funds the Certificate 3 Guarantee program.
  • This program was designed for individuals who have not obtained a qualification equivalent to or higher than Certificate III – Therefore, you can only participate in the program once.

Higher Level Skills Program Overview

The Higher Level Skills program provides eligible individuals like you with subsidised training opportunities. With this program, you can gain the skills needed to secure employment or advance your career in priority industries.

Additionally, the program supports those transitioning to university or to further their studies. Employers can also benefit from this program by accessing training to address their workforce development needs.   • be a Queensland resident.
  • be aged 15 years or over and no longer at school.

As part of our commitment to supporting individuals in their training journey, we want to inform you that students undertaking Certificate IV in Community Services training will be required to contribute to their training costs through a co-contribution fee. The Higher Level Skills funding provides valuable support towards the costs of training. The co-contribution fee cannot be waived or paid by the Registered Training Provider; a student can engage their employer or a third party to pay this fee.

  • This program was designed for individuals that are Existing Workers in the Community Services and Health industry, which includes parents and unpaid carers of NDIS participants.
